Local casino equipment distributor Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings Limited (APE) has marked its 20th anniversary with strong confidence in Macau’s gaming market, the company’s CEO Herman Ng told MNA.
The Macau-based gaming equipment company returned to profit in 2024, reporting a net profit of HK$3.76 million for the full year.
Mr Ng dismissed concerns over the recent slowdown in the city’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) growth observed in the first four months of 2025. “I am fully confident about Macau’s future,” he stressed, adding that the recent weaker expansion is “man-made”. He added that the SAR could experience a new wave of significant growth—if authorities decide to raise the current cap of 12,000 slot machines across all casino floors.

He suggested increasing the limit to 18,000 or even 19,000 units, a move that, he said, would pave the way for another boom and align perfectly with the government’s guiding policy of placing greater emphasis on the mass market and entertainment. “There is demand for sure, and slot machine expansion is a good way to enhance the mass market segment,” he added.
Slot machines generated a total of MOP3.27 billion in GGR during the first quarter of 2025, accounting for 5.7 per cent of the industry-wide total. The figure for the three-month period ending 31 March 2025 is slightly below the MOP3.73 billion recorded in the first quarter of pre-Covid 2019.
Total gaming revenue in the first four months of 2025 reached MOP76.5 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 0.8 per cent and accounting for 77.7 per cent of the level recorded during the same period in 2019.
